Kārikā Prathamā

Lajjā̍, vi̩pakṣa̍ hī̩nā̍ ̇ng, ¦¦

(tis) by jñāna̍ ga̩tā̍ ̇d; also̩, by ni̍rvi̩kalpa̍. |

For those hī̩na̍ ̇s, with (an) a̩vadya̍ (most) vi̩ṣa̍, ¦¦

of those sa̩ttva̍ ̇s, (tis the) pāci̩kā̍ ̇ng, in dhī̩ra̍. || 18.1 ||

Kārikā Dvitīyā

For the ṣaṇṇā̍, of these pāra̩mitā̍ ̇s, ¦¦

from ni̩ṣeva̍ṇa̩ ̇ng a̩lasya̍, bha̩va̍ti̩ ̇s the lajjā̍. |

From the kleśa̍ a̍nu̩kūla̍ dha̩rma̍ ̇s ¦¦

pra̩yoga̍, (tis) also̩ like tha̍t, of these dhī̩ra̍ ̇s. || 18.2 ||

Kārikā Tṛtīyā

These a̩sa̍mā̩hita̍ ̇ed sva̩bhāvā̍ ̇s, ¦¦

these mṛdu̩ madhya̍ ̇ng, these hīna̩ ̇d bhūmi̍kā̩ ̇s, (tis) the lajjā̍! |

Those hīna̩ ā̩śayā̍ ̇s, (are) samā̩na̍. ¦¦

These hī̩nā̍ ̇s, veri̩ly, tha̍t (are), anothe̩r manner, in soo̍th, adhi̩kā̍. || 18.3 ||

Kārikā Caturthā

Lajjā̍ rahi̩ta̍ ̇d, (is) the dhī̩ma̍t; ¦¦

unto these kle̩śa̍ ̇s, bringing adhi̩vāsa̍ya̩ti; aya̍ ̇ng, niśa̩ta̍ ̇ng. |

Prati̩gha̍ u̍pe̩kṣā̍ ̇ng, (tis) the māna̍, ¦¦

for these sa̩ttva̍ ̇s, doth he upa̩hanti̍, for śīla̩ also̍. || 18.4 ||

Kārikā Pañcamā

From the kau̩kṛtya̍, savi̩lekha̍ ̇ng ¦¦

doth bha̩va̍ti̩ one̍; (a) sa̩mmā̍na̩ ̇s hāni̍, one āpno̩ti̍ ̇s, |

from the śrāddha̍, from the mānu̩ṣa̍ sa̩ṅgha̍. ¦¦

The śāstrā̍, also̩, (is) u̩pe̍kṣya̩te̍ ̇d, fro̩m tha̍t. || 18.5 ||

Kārikā Ṣaṣṭhā

Togethe̩r with these dhārmi̍ka ̇s, with these jina̩ suta̍ ̇d, ¦¦

vi̩nindya̍te̩ ̇d, from the loka̍ ̇s; the aya̩śa̍ la̩bha̍te̩ ̇s, |

upon dṛṣṭa̩ ̇ng the dharma̍; othe̩rwise, ¦¦

the kṣaṇa̍ (of) rahi̩ta̍ ̇ng, he jā̩ya̍te ̇s, o̩nce mo̍re. || 18.6 ||

Kārikā Saptamā

The prāpta̍ ̇ng (and) a̍prā̩pta̍ ̇ng vi̩hāni̍, ¦¦

with these śu̩kla̍ ̇s, with these dha̩rma̍ ̇s, one sa̩māpnu̍te̩ ̇s, by tha̎t. |

The du̩ḥkha̍ ̇ng vi̩hara̍ti̩ ̇s, from tha̎t. ¦¦

From the mana̩s, therefore, to a̍sva̩sthatā̍, one e̩ti̍ ̇s. || 18.7 ||

Kārikā Aṣṭamā

Eṣa̎ ̇s!, in sarva̩ (tis) the doṣā̍, ¦¦

in these hrī̩ma̍t ̇s, they bha̩va̍nti̩, (a) na̍s, in these jina̩ suta̍ ̇d, |

Amongst the de̩va̍ ̇s, a̩nd amongst the manu̩ja̍ ̇s also̩, ¦¦

consta̍ntly, sa̩ñjāya̍te ̇s, also̩, the budha̍. || 18.8 ||

Kārikā Navamā

For sa̩mbhārā̍, also̩, (is) he̍, from bo̩dhi̍; ¦¦

swi̩ftly, (is) caused to pūra̍yati̩, with lajjā̍, the dhī̩ma̍t. |

Of these sattva̍ ̇s, with pāca̩nā̍, ¦¦

no̩t (is) khidya̍te ̇d, also̩, in thi̍s way, the jina̩ putra̍. || 18.9 ||

Kārikā Daśamā

He̍, with these vi̩pakṣa̍ ̇ng prati̩pakṣa̍ ̇s, ¦¦

the rahi̩ta̍, the arahi̩ta̍ also̩, doth jāya̍te, i̩ncessa̍ntly. |

Just so̍, fo̩r thi̍s, to ānu̩śaṃsa̍, ¦¦

the hrī̩ma̍t, āpno̩ti̍ ̇s, the jina̩ putra̍. || 18.10 ||

Kārikā Ekādaśā

(A) doṣa̩ mali̍na, assu̩redly, (is) the bāla̍. ¦¦

The hrī, (tis) from vi̩raha̍, by those su̩vasa̍na ̇ng, the su̩gupta̍ ̇d, thereto̩. |

Ni̩rvasa̍na, more ove̩r, (is) the jina̍ suta̩ ̇d. ¦¦

Hrī̍, the vasa̩na, (is) mukta̍ ̇d the doṣa̩ ̇s mala̍. || 18.11 ||

Kārikā Dvādaśā

To the ā̍kāśa̩, like tha̎t, (is) no̩t the lipta̍ ̇d. ¦¦

Hrī̩ yukta̍ ̇d, the jina̩ suta̍ ̇d bha̩va̍ti ̇s, with these dha̩rma̍ ̇s. |

Hrī̩ bhūṣi̍ta ̇d, also̩ śobha̍ti ̇s ¦¦

the sa̩mparka̍ ̇d ga̩ta̍ ̇ng, of these jina̩ suta̍ ̇s. || 18.12 ||

Kārikā Trayodaśā

From the mātu̩r, inde̍ed, the vatsa̩la̍tva̩, ¦¦

of hriya̍, upon the vi̩neya̍ ̇s, of these bodhi̩sattva̍ ̇s. |

The ā̩rakṣā̍, and a̩lso, the hrī̍, ¦¦

(are) for sa̩ṃsara̍tā, from sarva̩ doṣa̍ ̇s. || 18.13 ||

Kārikā Caturdaśā

In every sa̍rve̩ṣu, no̍t (tis) a̍dhi̩vāsa̍. ¦¦

In every sarve̩ṣv, the a̍dhi̩vāsa̍nā̩, (tis) a̩pra̍vṛtti̩ś also̍. |

In every sa̍rve̩ṣu, also̍ (tis) the pra̩vṛtti̍r. ¦¦

To hrī vi̩hita̍ṃ, (tis) the hrī mato̩, for liṅga̍m. || 18.14 ||

Kārikā Pañcadaśā

Hrī̩ bhāva̍nā, the pra̩dhānā̍, (tis) ¦¦

from sva̩citta̍, from the dharma̍, from adhi̩mokṣa̍ also̩, |

from the ā̍śaya̩, therefo̍re from vi̩bhutva̍, ¦¦

from a̩kalpa̍na̩, from the aikya̍ also̩, thereto̍. || 18.15 ||

Dhṛti Vibhāge

Kārikā Ṣoḍaśā

Dhṛti̍, (tis) also̩ of these bo̍dhi̩sattva̍ ̇s, ¦

by (a) lakṣa̩ṇa̍, from pra̩bheda̍. |

By dṛḍha̍tva, also̩, (tis) for sarva̍; ¦

therefo̩re, from these anya̍ ̇ties, tis to be vi̩śiṣya̍te ̇d. || 18.16 ||

Kārikā Saptadaśā

For the vīrya̍, (tis) sa̩mā̍dhi, ˰ pra̩jñā̍ also̩. ¦

For the sattva̍, (tis) dhai̩rya̍, dhṛ̩ti̍, matā̍. |

The ni̩rbhīta̍ bodhi̩sattva̍ (is), veri̩ly, ¦

from the traya̍, from whi̍ch, (he) pra̩varta̍te ̇s. || 18.17 ||

Kārikā Aṣṭādaśā

From līna̩tva̍, and from cala̩tva̍ also̩, ¦

from moha̍, a̩nd u̩tpadya̍te̩ ̇d, for bhaya̍; |

upon these kṛtya̍ ̇s, fro̩m tha̎t, ˰ shall be vi̩jñe̍yā̩; ¦

the dhṛti̍ sa̩ñjñā̍ ̇ng, (tis) in (a) nija̩ traya̍. || 18.18 ||

Kārikā Navadaśā

With pra̩kṛtyā̍, in praṇi̩dhāna̍ also̩, ¦

ni̍ra̩pekṣa̍tva! ; like tha̩t, also̍, |

in (a) sattva̩ ̇s vi̍prati̩patti̍, a̩nd, ¦

in (a) gambhī̍rya̩ au̩dārya̍ ̇s sa̩ṃśrava̍. || 18.19 ||

Kārikā Viṃśā

In the vi̩neya̍ ̇s durvi̩naya̍tva, ¦

the kāyā̍, in being acintya̩, (tis) of the jina̍ also̩. |

In these du̩ṣkara̍ ̇s, in these vi̩citra̍ ̇s, ¦

the sa̩ṃsā̍ra̩ a̩tyāga̍ ̇ng, tis in this wa̩y, also̍. || 18.20 ||

Kārikā Ekaviṃśā

In being ni̍ḥsa̩ṅkleśa̍, also̩ therei̍n, i̍n this way, ¦

(a) dhṛti̩ ̇ness, of dhīra̍, jāya̩te̍ ̇s. |

A̩samā̍ also̩, (tis) tha̎t, for those a̩nya̍ ̇s. ¦

He̩, in being agra̍, for dhṛti̩ma̍t, (is) ya̩ta̍ ̇ng. || 18.21 ||

Kārikā Dvāviṃśā

From (a) ku̩mitra̍ du̩ḥkha̍ ̇ng, from (a) gambhī̩ra ¦

śravā̍d, the vī̩ra̍ doth no̩t kampa̍te, |

with these śala̩bha̍ ̇s, with pakṣa̩ ̇s vāta̍ ̇ing also, ¦

with these sa̩mudra̍ ̇s also̩, holding (the) su̍me̩ru̍. || 18.22 ||

Akheda Vibhāge

Kārikā Trayoviṃśā

The a̩kheda̍, of bodhi̩sattva̍ ̇s ¦

(tis) a̩sama̍, in tri̩ vastu̍ ̇s: |

in śruta̩ ā̩tṛpti̍ in mahā̩ vīrya̍ ¦

in du̩ḥkha̍. (Tis) the hrī̩ dhṛti̍ ̇ness ni̩śrita̍ ̇ng. || 18.23 ||

Kārikā Caturviṃśā

The tīvra̩ ̇ness of chanda̍, in (a) mahā̩ bodhi, ¦

the a̩kheda̍, of these dhī̩ma̍t ̇s, (tis) mata̩ ̇d. |

The a̍ni̩ṣpanna̍ ̇d and ni̩ṣpanna̍ ̇d, ¦

the suni̩ṣpanna̍ ̇d also̩, (are) in bhūmi̍̍ ̇s. || 18.24 ||

Śāstra Jñatā Ayā, Ayām

Kārikā Pañcaviṃśā

With vastu̩, a̍nd with a̍dhi̩kāra̍, ¦

by karma̩n, also̍, (tis) vi̩śiṣya̍te ̇d; |

by lakṣa̍ṇa̩, by a̩kṣaya̍tva̩, ¦

of pha̍la̩, (tis) with the u̍dā̩gama̍ also̩. || 18.25 ||

Kārikā Ṣaḍviṃśā

Śāstra̩ jñatā̍, assu̩redly, of these dhīra̍ ̇s, ¦

(tis) the samā̩dhi̍ ̇s mukha̩ dhāra̍ṇī. |

The gṛhī̩tā̍ ̇ng, (twas) for (a) satva̩ pāka̍, ¦

By kāya̍, by vaca̍s, a̩nd just so̍, ¦

(is) the loka̩ jñatā̍, assure̩dly, of these dhīra̍ ̇s; ¦

thus so̩, from those anya̍ ̇s, (tis) vi̩śiṣya̍te ̇d. || 18.27 ||

Kṛta̍ ̇ng smita̩ ̇ng mukha̍ ̇s, alwa̩ys, ¦

(are) these dhīra̍ ̇s, pūrva̩ a̩bhi̍bhāṣi̩ṇa̍ ̇ng. |

Of these sattva̍ ̇s, (tis) for bhāja̩na̍tva, ¦

Kathaṃ, satya jñānena, ity, āha :

From satya̩ dvaya̍, (is) yata̩ ̇d, the ceṣṭa̍, ¦

of these lo̩ka̍ ̇s, u̩daya̍ ̇ng, re̩peate̍dly. |

From dvaya̍, for being asta̩ ̇d, (is) the gama̍, fro̩m tha̍t; ¦

thus so̩, jña̍, (is) the loka̩ ̇s jña̍, (tis) ucya̩te̍ ̇d. || 18.29 ||

Upon deśa̩na̍ ̇ng thi̍s manner, of being pra̩yukta̍ ̇d, ¦

of whi̩ch, ‐by whi̍ch also̩‐, is the deśa̍nā. |

Of two dharma̩ a̩rtha̍ ̇s, in dva̩, (is) the vācā̍; ¦

The sa̩mbhāra̍, of these bodhi̩sattva̍ ̇s, ¦

‐puṇya̩ jñāna̍‐, the aya̩ ̇ng (is) a̩sama̍. |

In sa̩ṃsāra̍, for abhyu̩daya̍ ̇ng, (is) the e̩ka̍, ¦

the o̩the̍r, both (are) asa̩ṅkliṣṭa̍ ̇d sa̩ṃsṛta̍ ̇ng. || 18.38 ||

Kārikā Navatriṃśā

Dāna̍, śīla̍, a̩nd of puṇya̍, ¦

The ā̩hāra̍, ‐one who̩m (does) tha̍t‐, (tis) the sa̩mbhāra̍. ¦

In the vī̩re̍, (tis) the sarva̩ a̩rtha̍ (of a) sādha̩ka̍. || 18.40 ||

From having two ā̍nu̩kūlya̍ a̍nu̩vṛtti̍, ¦

pari̩jñā̍, (is) from u̍tpatti̩ ̇ng, the aparā̍. |

By (a) mātra̍, with para̩matva̍, ¦

the bhāva̩nā̍, (tis) from sa̩mu̍dā̩gama̍. || 18.44 ||

being na̩ibandhi̍ka̩ ̇d the tṛtī̍yas, a̩nd ¦

Kārikā Catuḥpañcāśā

Of darśa̍na, of ava̩vāda̍, ¦

of sthi̩ti̍ vi̩krīḍi̍ta, also̩, |

of pra̍ṇi̩dhi̍ ̇ng, the vaśi̩tā̍, a̍ya̩ ̇ng, a̍nd ¦
