Kārikā Prathamā

For sa̩mmukha̍, to vi̩mukha̍, (tis) the pū̩jā̍, ¦

of these bu̩ddha̍ ̇s, by these cī̩va̍ra̩ ̇s ā̩di̍, |

of (a) gāḍha̍ pra̩sanna̍ ci̩tta̍, ¦

in the sa̩mbhāra̍'s of dvaya̩ pūra̍ya'd. || 17.1 ||

Kārikā Dvitīyā

Shall be a̩bandhya̍ ̇d, in (a) buddha̩ ̇d janma̍tva̩, ¦

having pra̍ṇi̩dhāna̍va̩t, (is) the sata̍. |

Of the traya̍, (tis) a̩nu̍pa̩lambha̍ ̇ng, inde̩ed; ¦

ni̩ṣpannā̍ ̇d, (is) the buddha̩ ̇s pūja̍nā. || 17.2 ||

Kārikā Tṛtīyā

Of satva̍ ̇s, of a̩pra̍me̩ya̍ ̇s, ¦

for pari̩pāka̍ ̇ng also̩, (tis) a̩parā̍. |

From upa̩dhi̍, from citta̍ also̩, (is) the a̩nyā̍̍ ̇ble, ¦

of adhi̩mukti̍, from ni̩dhāna̍̍ ̇ng. || 17.3 ||

Kārikā Caturthā

Anu̩kampā̍, a̍kṣa̩m, from the̍se two̩, also̍, ¦

from the sa̩mu̍dā̩cāra̍, (tis) apa̩rā̍, |

from the vastu of ā̩bhoga̍ ̇ng a̍va̩bodha̍ also, ¦

from the vi̩mukti̍, and from tathā̩tva̍. || 17.4 ||

Kārikā Pañcamā

From the ā̩śrayā̍t, from the vastu̍ta̩s, (is) the pūjā̍; ¦

from the ni̩mittā̍t, from the pari̩ṇāma̍nā̩t, |

from the hetu̍ta̩s, from jñāna̍ta̩s, from the kṣetrā̍t, ¦

from ni̩śrayā̍t, (tis) also pra̩darśi̍tā̩. || 17.5 ||

Kārikā Ṣaṣtā

From hetu̍tas, from phala̍tas also̩, simila̍rly, ¦

with ā̩tma̍nā a̩nd with para̍ ̇s; moreo̩ver, |

from lābha̍ ̇ng sa̩t kāra̍tas also̩; like tha̍t, ¦

from the prati̩patte̍s, dvi̩dhā̍ also̩, (tis) sā̍. || 17.6 ||

Kārikā Saptamā

Parī̩ttā̍ ̇ng, tho̩se two̍ maha̩tī̍ ̇s, is the pū̩jā̍; ¦

samā̩nā̍, like (a) māni̩kā̍, also̩ tis she̍. |

From the pra̩yogā̍d, from the gati̍taś also̩, just so̍, ¦

from the praṇi̩dhānā̍c, also̩ (is) she̍, the matā̍. || 17.7 ||

Kārikā Aṣṭamā

In these buddha̍ ̇s, the pūjā̍ para̩mā̍ ̇st, (tis) from sva̩citta̍, ¦

from the dharma̍ a̍dhi̩mukti̍ ̇s ā̍śa̩ya̍, from the vi̩bhutva̍, |

by the a̩kalpa̍na ̇ng upā̩ya̍ pari̩graha̍ ̇ng, ¦

from every si̍ngle kārya̩tva̍ ni̩veśa̍ ̇ng also̩. || 17.8 ||

Kārikā Daśamā

Mitra̍ ought śra̩ye̍t, dānta̩ śama̍ (and) u̍pa̩śānta̍, ¦

for the gu̩ṇa̍ ̇s a̍dhi̩ka̍, for (a) so̩dyama̍, for (an) ā̍gama̩ ā̩ḍhya̍ ̇d. |

For pra̩buddha̍ ̇ng ta̩tva̍, (is) the va̩ca̍s ābhyu̩peta̍ ̇d; ¦

kṛpa̩ ā̩tma̍ka̩ ̇ng, tis for kheda̍ vi̩varji̍ta ̇ng, also̩. || 17.10 ||

Kārikā Ekādaśā

With these sa̩t kāra̍ ̇s lā̩bha̍ ̇ng, by pari̩caryā̍, a̩nd, ¦

ought seve̍ta̩ the mitra̍, from prati̩patti̍, also̩. |

In the dharma̍, tha̩t manne̍r, ā̍jña̩ ̇ng the ā̩śaya̍, like tha̩t, (is) the dhīma̍t. ¦

The mi̩tra̍ ought pra̩gacche̍t, upon sa̩maya̍, nata̍ ̇ng also̩. || 17.11 ||

Kārikā Dvādaśā

In these sa̍t kāra̩ lābha̍ ̇s, (tis) the gata̩ ̇ng spṛha̍ ̇d; tha̎t, ¦

(tis), to (a) pra̩patti̍ ̇ng, for him; pari̩ṇāma̍yet also̩. |

Which ma̍nner, from a̍nu̩śiṣṭa̍ ̇d prati̩patti̍, also, ¦

ought sa̩ṃrādha̍ye̩t citta̍, he̩nce, of tha̎t, dhī̩ra̍. || 17.12 ||

Kārikā Trayodaśā

In the yāna̩ traya̍, the kauśa̩la̍, having etya̩ ̇d, by buddhi̍, ¦

of the sva̍, just so̩, of the yāna̩, should yate̍ta̩, in the siddhi̍. |

For these sa̩ttva̍ ̇s̍, for these a̩meya̍ ̇s, (tis) for the pari̩pāca̍na ̇ng, ¦

of the kṣetra̍, of śuddha̍, (tis) also̩ for sādha̍na̩. || 17.13 ||

Kārikā Caturdaśā

In these dharma̍ ̇s, from the dā̩ya̍, with a̩guṇa̍, (is) the yu̩kta̍. ¦

No̍t, in this wa̩y, by (an) ā̩miṣa̍, ought pra̩vase̍t o̩ne, (a) mitra̍. |

From he̩tu̍, from phala̍, from the dharma̩ mukha̍ a̍nu̩yāna̍ ̇ng, ¦

From śruta̩ ̇ng the śrava̍, in the ce̩ta̍s, from yo̩ga̍ also̩, ¦

simila̍rly, (is a) ni̩rmāna̍ of ma̩na̍s, from anu̩yoga̍. |

From (a) gati̩ pra̍yoga̩ ̇s pra̍ṇi̩dhāna̍ also̩, ¦

for the kalyā̍ṇa̩ mitra̍, inde̩ed, ought bha̍je̩t the dhīma̍t. || 17.15 ||

Paramā Sevā

Kārikā Ṣoḍaśā

Sa̍nmitra̩ sevā̍, (tis) the para̩mā̍, from sva̩citta̍; ¦

from the dharma̍̍ ̇s a̍dhi̩mukty (of) ā̩śaya̍, with these vi̩bhutva̍ ̇s; |

by a̩kalpa̍na̩ u̩pāya̍ (so) pari̩graha̍ ̇ng; ¦

from sarva̩ e̩ka̍ kārya̩tva̍ ni̩veśa̍ ̇ng, also̩. || 17.16 ||

Apramāṇa Vibhāge

Kārikā Saptadaśā

By brāhmī̍, (tis) the vi̩pakṣa̍ hīnā̍ ̇ng, ¦¦

with jñāna̍, for those gata̍ ̇d also, by ni̩rvi̍ka̩lpa̍. |

The tri̩vidha̍ ā̍lamba̩na̍ vṛ̩tta̍ ̇s, ¦¦

of these sa̩ttva̍ ̇s, (are) the pāca̩kā̍ ̇ng, in dhī̩ra̍. || 17.17 ||

Kārikā Aṣṭādaśā

In saukhya̩ a̩rthi̍n ̇ing, in duḥkha̩ ā̩rta̍ ̇d, ¦

in being sukhi̩ta̍ ̇d, in the kliṣṭa̍ ̇d also̩, the̍y pra̩varta̍nte̩. |

Therefo̩re, in deśi̍ta ̇ng a̩nd in the dharma̍, ¦

(tis) tha̩t, in tatha̍tā also̩, of dhīra̍ ̇s. || 17.18 ||

Kārikā Navadaśā

From he̍r also̩, (tis) the tathatā̍, from a̍rtha̩tva̍. ¦

From kṣānti̩ lābha̍ ̇ng, (is) the vi̩śuddhi̍ta ̇d. |

From (a) karma̩ dvaya̍, (is) the a̩nālambā̍. ¦

The maitrī̍, (tis) from kleśa̩ kṣaya̍ ̇ng, therefo̩re. || 17.19 ||

Kārikā Viṃśā

The̍y, these ni̩ścalā̍ ̇s, a̩nd those calā̍s also̩, ¦¦

with those kṛpa̍ṇa ̇s, (are) the āsva̩ ā̩di̍tā̩; no̍t also̩ shallt they be jñeya̍ ̇ng. |

Amongst the a̩cala̍ ̇s, (are) these bodhi̩sattva̍ ̇s, ¦¦

these prati̩ṣṭhita̍ ̇s, upon sa̩kti̍ vi̩gata̍ ̇ng. || 17.20 ||

Kārikā Ekaviṃśā

These a̍samā̩hita̍ sva̩bhāvā̍s, ¦

these mṛdu̩ madhyā̍s, these hīna̩ bhūmi̍kās, in whi̩ch, thereto, |

hīna̩ a̩śayā̍s, (are) sa̩mā̍nā̩s. ¦

These hīnā̍s, the̩y, indeed, an o̩ther manne̍r, in sooth, (are) adhi̩kā̍s. || 17.21 ||

Kārikā Dvāviṃśā

With these brāhmya̍ ̇s , (is a) vi̩hṛta̍ (to be) vi̩hāra̍ ̇ng. ¦

Amongst the kāmi̍ ̇s, doth sa̩ñjāya̍te, su̩ch time, the dhīma̍t; |

for the sa̩mbhāra̍ ̇s, to be caused to pū̩ra̍yate̩. ¦

Having been before (a) sattva̍ also, he is vi̩pāca̍yati ̇d, by tha̩t. || 17.22 ||

Kārikā Trayoviṃśā

By a̩ll means, also̍, (tis) a̍vi̩rahi̍ta̩ ̇d, ¦¦

with these brāhmī̍, rahi̩ta̍ ̇d, a̩nd tha̍t, (tis) with (a) vi̩pakṣa̍. |

The̍nce, with these pra̩tyaya̍ ̇s, though mo̩st bhṛśa̍ ̇nt, ¦¦

doth no̩t yāti̍, for vi̩kṛti̍, the pra̩matta̍ ̇ng, thereto̩. || 17.23 ||

Kārikā Caturviṃśā

Vyā̩pāda̍ (and) vi̩hiṃsā̍, with the̩se two̍, ¦¦

with a̩rati̍ vyā̩pāda̍ kāma̩ rāga̍, also̩, |

the yukta̍, indeed, the bodhi̩sattva̍, ¦¦

to bahu̩ vidha̍, unto ā̩dīna̍va̩, doth spṛśa̍ti. || 17.24 ||

Kārikā Pañcaviṃśā

With these kleśa̍ ̇s, doth hanti̩, to ātmā̍na̩; ¦¦

for these sattva̍ ̇s, doth upa̩hanti̍; for śīla̍, doth upa̩hanti̍. |

Savi̩lekha̍ lābha̩ ̇ng hīna̍ ̇d, ¦¦

ra̩kṣā̍ hī̩na̍ ̇d, that manne̩r, (is) the śāstrā̍. || 17.25 ||

Kārikā Ṣaḍviṃśā

With sādhi̩kara̍ṇa̩ ̇ng, that which aśaya̍s·vī̩ ̇ng, ¦¦

elsewhe̍re, (doth) sa̩ñjāya̍te̩, in akṣaṇa̍ ̇s, one̩ a̍lso. |

Prā̩pta̍ ̇ng (and) a̍prā̩pta̍ ̇ng vi̩hīna̍ ̇d, ¦¦

in the ma̩na̍s, (tis a) maha̩t, for duḥkha̍ ̇ng, doth one āpno̩ti̍. || 17.26 ||

Kārikā Saptaviṃśā

The̩se, in sarva̍, (are a) do̩ṣā̍, ¦¦

in maitrī̩, upon these ā̩di̍, of being su̩sthita̍ ̇d, no̩t they bha̍vanti̩. |

The a̩kliṣṭa̍ ̇d, unto sa̩ṃsāra̍, ¦¦

for (a) satva̩ a̩rtha̍, for u̩s also̍, doth sa̩ntya̍jati̩. || 17.27 ||

Kārikā Aṣṭāviṃśā

No̩t that manne̍r, in e̍ka ̇s putra̩ka̍ ̇s, the̩reto̍, ¦¦

in those guṇa̍vat ̇s tho̩ugh, (it) bha̍va̩ti̍ ̇s, of sarva̩ sattvā̍ ̇s. |

With maitryā̍, (tis) the a̍di̩ceta̍nā̩, thi̩s, ¦¦

in these sattva̍ ̇s; whi̩ch manne̍r, (tis) of these jina̩ sutā̍ ̇s. || 17.28 ||

For these pr̩adīpta̍ ̇ng ones, to śatru̩ vaśa̍ ̇s gā̩ ̇ng, ¦

(a) duḥkha̍ ‐had krāntā̩ṃs ̇d onward‐ to tama̍s, (tis), to those so vṛ̩tā̍ ̇ng, |

to durga̍ ̇ng mārga̩ ̇s sa̍mā̩rūḍha̍ ̇d , ¦

to mahā̩ bandha̍na ̇s sa̩ṃyuta̍ ̇d. || 17.29 ||

Kārikā Triṃśā

For these mahā̍ ā̍śana̩ ̇ng viṣa̍ ̇s ā̍krānta̩ ¦

lola̍ ̇ng, for these mārga̩ ̇s pra̍naṣṭa̩ka̍ ̇ng, |

to these u̩tpatha̍ ̇s pra̩sthita̍ ̇ng, for those sa̩ttva̍ ̇s, ¦

Kārikā Ekatriṃśā

For heṭha̩ a̩pa̍ha ̇ng, verily, for the u̩ttama̍ ̇st bodhi̩ bīja̍, ¦

for sukha̩ ā̩vaha̍ ̇ng, for tāya̩ka̍ ̇ng, for (an) iṣṭa̩ hetu̍, |

for (a) sva̍bhāva̩ (of) da̍ ̇ng, to the dha̩rma̍, of upā̩śri̍ta ̇ng, ¦

the bodhi̍, (tis) no̩t in the dūra̍, of (a) ji̩na̍ ā̍tma̩ ja̍. || 17.31 ||

Apratiṣṭhita Saṃsāra Nirvāṇatva

Kārikā Dvātriṃśā

Having vi̩jñāya̍ ̇d, the sa̩ṃsāra̍ gata̩ ̇ng, (it is) sa̍ma̩gra̍. ¦

The duḥkha̩ ̇ng ā̩tma̍ka, a̩nd just so̍, the ni̩rātma̍ka, also̩, |

not to u̩dvega̍, ā̩yāti̍ ̇s ; no̩t also̍, moreo̩ver, with these doṣa̍ ̇s, ¦

(is) pra̩bādhya̍te ̇d the kāru̩ṇi̍ka, the agra̩ buddhi̍. || 17.32 ||

Saṃsāra Parijñāne

Kārikā Trayastriṃśā

For the duḥkha̩ ̇ng ā̩tmaka̍, for the lo̩ka̍, the ave̩kṣa̍ (of) māṇa̩ ¦

duḥkhā̍yate̩ ̇s ; one vetti̍ ̇s also̩, therefo̍re, tru̩ly |

of tha̍t, (an) a̍bhyupā̩ya̍, in pari̩varja̍na̩ ̇ng ; also̍, ¦

no̩t to kheda̍, doth ā̩yati̍, thereto̩, inde̍ed, the kṛpā̩lu. || 17.33 ||

Karuṇā, Prabhede

Kārikā Catustriṃśā

Kṛpā̍, (is) by pra̩kṛti̍, with pra̩ti̍sa̩ṅkhyā̍ also̩, ¦

towards the pūrva̍̍ ̇ng, thus so̩, from a̍bhyā̩sa̍ (in a) vi̩dhāna̍ yo̩ga̍̍ ̇d. |

The vi̍pakṣa̩ hīnā̍ ̇ng also̩, (tis) from vi̍śuddhi̩ lābha̍ ̇ng; ¦

fourfo̩ld, shall be vi̩dheya̍ ̇d, the karu̩ṇā̍, of those ā̍tma̩ka̍ ̇s. || 17.34 ||

Kārikā Pañcatriṃśā

No̎r (is) she̩ kṛpā̍, whi̩ch (is) no̎t sa̩mā̍ o̩ver ti̍me, also̩ ¦

no̎t from a̍dhyāśa̩ya̍, no̩r from pra̍ti̩patti̍ta, also̩ |

from vai̩rāgya̍ no͈t, from a̩nu̍pa̩lambha̍̍ ̇ng also̩ ¦

no̎t; the bodhi̩sattva̍, assuredly, (is) a̩kṛpa̍, that manne̩r goi̍ng. || 17.35 ||

Karuṇā, Vṛkṣa Pratibimbake

Kārikā Ṣaṭtriṃśā

Karu̩ṇā̍, kṣānti̍, cintā̍, ¦¦

praṇi̩dhāna̍, (are) the janma̍ (of) satva̩ pa̍ri̩pāka̍ ̇ng. |

Karu̩ṇā̍, (a) taru̍, (is) thi̩s maha̍t. ¦¦

The mūla̩ ā̩di̍, tis puṣpa̩ patra̍ (and) phala̍. || 17.36 ||

Kārikā Saptatriṃśā

Unto the mūla̍, karu̩ṇā̍ ought no͈t bhave̍t; ¦¦

the du̩ṣkara̍ ca̩ryā̍, sahi̩ṣṇu̍tā, ought no͈t bhave̍t. |

Duḥkha̩ a̩kṣama̍ ̇ble, (is) also̩ the dhīma̍t. ¦¦

The satva̩ a̩rtha̍, -ought one ci̩nta̍ye̩t-, (tis) no̎t in thi̎s wa̩y. || 17.37 ||

Kārikā Aṣṭātriṃśā

Cintā̍, vi̩hīna̍ ̇d of bu̩ddhi̍, ¦¦

for the pra̍ṇi̩dhāna̍, in these śukla̩ janma̍n, no̩t could one kuryā̍t. |

For those śubha̩ janma̍ ̇s, anu̩gaccha̍t, ¦¦

for those sattva̍ ̇s, (t'would) cause to pari̩pāca̍yet, no̩t li̩ke tha̍t. || 17.38 ||

Kārikā Navatriṃśā

Karu̩ṇā̍, seka̍, maitrī̍, ¦¦

the̩n, ‐in duḥkha̍‐, from sau̩khya̍, (tis) the vi̩pula̍ pu̩ṣṭi̍, |

the śākhā̍, the vṛddhi̍r, the vi̩śadā̍. ¦¦

The yoni̩ (of) mana̍s, (tis) from kāra̩, shall be jñeyā̍ ̇d. || 17.39 ||

Kārikā Catvāriṃśā

The parṇa̍ tyāga̩ ̇ng (and) ā̩dāna̍ ̇ng, ¦¦

of those praṇi̩dhi̍ ̇ng, (tis) from sa̩ntati̍, anu̩ccheda̍. |

From the dvi̩vidha̍ pra̩tyaya̍ ̇s siddhi̩, ¦¦

for the puṣpa̍, most a̩bandhya̍, the phala̍, also̩, (tis) from thi̍s. || 17.40 ||

Karuṇā, Anuśaṃse

Kārikā Ekacatvāriṃśā

Who̩ would kurvī̍ta no͈t, for karu̍ṇā̩, ¦¦

in these sattva̍ ̇s; (a) mahā̩ kṛpā̍, 'mongst these guṇa̩ ̇s kara̍ ̇ng; |

in duḥkha̍ ̇ng, moreo̩ver, for (a) saukhya̍ a̩tula̍ ̇d, ¦¦

bha̩va̍ti ̇s tha͈t; whi̍ch, for thi̩s, (tis a) kṛ̩pā̍, for the jani̩ta̍̍ ̇d || 17.41 ||

Karuṇā, Niḥsaṅgata Ayām

Kārikā Dvācatvāriṃśā

Of those ā̩viṣṭa̍ ̇d, with kṛ̩pā̍, ¦¦

no͈t doth tiṣṭha̍ti̩ the mana̍s, in the śama̍, of these kṛ̩pā̍lu̩ ̇s. |

From whe̍re, just so̩, in the loka̍ of sau̩khya̍, ¦¦

in sva̩jīvi̍ta also̩, ought bhave̍t sne̩ha̍. || 17.42 ||

Karuṇā, Sneha Vaiśeṣye

Kārikā Trayścatvāriṃśā

Sne̩ho̍, no̩t vidya̍te̩ ̇d, (is) tha̎t!; ¦¦

he who̩m, (is) ani̍ra̩vadya̍, (is) no̩t lau̍ki̩ka̍; he who̩m, also̍, |

amongst those dhīma̍t, (is) kṛ̩pā̍, sne̩ha̍, ¦¦

nira̩vadya̍, the loka̩ sa̍matī̩ta̍ ̇d. || 17.43 ||

Kārikā Catuścatvāriṃśā

In duḥkha̩ ̇ng (and) a̩jñāna̍ (a) mahā̩ a̩ugha̍, ¦¦

in (the) mahā̩ a̩ndha̍ (so) kāra̩ ̇ng also̍, (tis) for the ni̩śrita̍ ̇ng lo̩ka̍, |

to u̩ddhartu̍m, tha̩t which, (is) the u̍pā̩ya̍; ¦¦

in a loka̍, of pra̩tyeka̍ ̇ed bodhi̩ buddha̍ ̇s. |

Fi̍rst, in this wa̩y, for tha̍t, of o̩thers; ¦¦

pra̍y te̩ll, like tha̍t, (a) loka̩ uttara̍, no̩t ought syā̍t. || 17.45 ||

Trāsa Abhinandana Nimittatve

Kārikā Ṣaṭcatvāriṃśā

In duḥkha̩ ̇s a̩bhāva̍, (a) du̩ḥkha̍ ̇ing, ¦¦

whi̩ch, by kṛpā̍, bha̩va̍ti ̇s, of these bodhi̩sattva̍ ̇s; |

sa̩ntrāsa̍yati ̇s, the̩nce, upon ādi̍; ¦¦

for (a) spṛ̩ṣṭa̍ ̇ng, in sooth, abhi̩nanda̍ya̩ti ̇d, most stro̍ngly. || 17.46 ||

Karuṇā, Duḥkhena, Sukha Abhibhave

Kārikā Saptacatvāriṃśā

For whi̍ch, from thi͈s, hence forwa̍rd, a̩stonishi̍ngly, ¦¦

tha̩t, duḥkha̍ ̇ng, the saukhya̍ abhi̩bhava̍ti ̇s, to̩tally. |

By kṛpā̍, for the jani̩ta̍ ̇ed, for the laukya̍, ¦¦

by whi̍ch, (tis) vi̩mukta̍ ̇d, the̩reto̍, the kṛta̩ ̇d a̩rtha̍. || 17.47 ||

Kṛpā, Kṛta Dāna Anuśaṃse

Kārikā Aṣṭācatvāriṃśā

With kṛpā̍, joine̩d to dāna̍, ¦¦

wherefo̩re, the dāna̍ sukha̍ karo̩ti̍ ̇s, of these dhī̩ra̍. |

for tha̩t, for śakti̍ kṛta̩ ̇ng, for sukha̍ also̩, (tis) from thi̍s. || 17.50 ||

with these sukha̍ ̇d ones, having anā̩dhāya̍ ̇d; by whi̩ch, the sukhi̍ta ̇d, ought be̩, |

sukha̍ya̩ti, for ātmā̍na, from thi̩s. ¦¦

The kṛpā̍lu, having ā̩dhāya̍ ̇d, (is) to para̩saukhya̍. || 17.52 ||

Kṛpayā, Dāna Samanuśāstau

Kārikā Trayaḥpañcāśā

For sva̍, for dā̩na̍, the kāru̩ṇi̍ka̩ ¦¦

śāsti̍ ̇s, like tha̍t alwa̩ys, ju̩st so̍, (a) ni̩ḥsva̍sukha̩ ̇d kāma̍, |

with these bhoga̍ ̇s, to sukha̩ya para̍ ̇st; a̩nd, ¦¦

for me̍, also̩ no̍t so greatly mu̩ch, for (an) a̍yuta̩ ̇d saukhya̍. || 17.53 ||

Kārikā Catuḥpañcāśā

For sa̩pha̍la̩n, for dāna̍n, for da̩tta̍ ̇ng, ¦¦

tha̎t, for me̩, upon these sa̍ttva̩ ̇s; tha̎t, (tis) by (a) sukha̩ ̇ng sukhe̍na. |

Thou must bear pha̩la̍!, in the̩m, just so̍, withi̩n desi̍re. ¦¦

I̩f, for me̍ shall be (a) karta̩vya̍tā; for tho̩u it asti̍ ̇s. || 17.54 ||

In (a) bhoga̍, (is) the dve̩ṣṭu̍, the dātu̩ ̇er, ¦¦

these bhogā̍ ̇s, bahu̩ śubha̍ ̇s ta̩rā̍ ̇ng, upa̩sarpa̍nti. |

No̍t, inde̩ed, tha̎t, (tis a) su̩kha̍, the ma̩ta̍, for me̩; ¦¦

in dāna̍, highe̩st beyo̍nd hi̩gh, asmi̍, ya̩ta̍s. || 17.55 ||

Kārikā Ṣaṭpañcāśā

All perva̍ding, in (a) pari̩tyāga̍, ¦¦

from whi̩ch, with kṛpa̍, unto me, thou dost ni̩rīkṣa̍se̩, i̍nce̩ssa̍ntly; |

neve̩r, for tho̍u, by tha͈t, shall't be jñeya̍ ̇d. ¦¦

Nau͈ght of mi̍ne, with phala̩, (tis) a̍rthi̩tā̍̍ ̇d; of all thi͈s, tis thu̍s so. || 17.56 ||

Dāna̍ a̍bhi̩rata̍ ̇ng, no̩t I ought syā̍m, ¦¦

firmly prā̩pta̍ ̇ng, and also̩, that phala̍, not vi̩sṛje̍yam, |

for (a) kṣaṇa̍, thereto̩, dāna̍ witho̩ut. ¦¦

Dāna̍ a̍bhi̩rata̍ ̇ng, bha̩va̍ti ̇s, no̩t like tha̍t. || 17.57 ||

of these jina̩ ā̩tma̍ ja̩, (are) kṛpā̍, dāna̍. || 17.59 ||

For sa̩kala̍, for being vi̩pula̍, for being śre̩ṣṭha̍, ¦¦

alwa̩ys, for being mudi̍ta, for being ni̩rāmiṣa̍, for being śu̩ddha̍ ̇d, |

to bodhi̩ nata̍ ̇ng, to kuśa̩la nata̍ ̇ng, ¦¦

of these ji̩na̍ ā̍tma̩ ja̍ ̇n, (are) kṛpā̍, dāna̍. || 17.60 ||

The viṣa̍ya para̩tantra̍! karu̩ṇā̍, ¦¦
