Trisvabhāva Nirdeśaḥ

Kalpita, paratantra, and ¦

pariniṣpanna, like that, also, |

(are) the traya, these the svabhāva°nt. ‸ Of those dhīra, ¦

the gambhīra shall jñeya, (tis) iṣyate°d. || 1 ||

Whereof, khyāti°s dependent, that one; ¦

such manner, khyāti°s it kalpita°d. |

From the pratyaya adhīna vṛttitva, ¦

(tis) the sadhana, from the mātra of bhāvatas. || 2 ||

Of that so khyāta°d, which manner for the ākhyāna°ng_ ¦

which she always (is) avidya·mānatā, |

shall be jñeya°d, it (is) the pariniṣpanna ¦

svabhāva, from ananyathātvatas. || 3 ||

Therein, for whom khyāti°s the asat·kalpa; ¦

pray tell, khyāti°s the dvaya·ātmanā; |

of that, which not (tis) the astitā, by that; ¦

who, in that, (is) the advaya dharmatā? || 4 ||

The asat·kalpa, herein, which the citta, ¦

whence, by that, truly, (tis) kalpyate°d. |

Which manner, also, (tis) caused to kalpayati the artha. ¦

That manner, the atyanta, (is) not vidyate°d. || 5 ||

Thus so, by the hetu·phala bhāva, ¦

the citta, to dvi·vidha, (tis) iṣyate°d. |

Wherefore, the ālaya_ ākhya, vijñāna, ¦

for pravṛtti_ ākhya, (tis) also, saptadhā. || 6 ||

The saṅkleśa·vāsanā, with bīja°s, ¦

from the citatva, (is) the citta, (tis) ucyate°d, |

for citta ādya°ly, for a dvitīya indeed, ¦

from citra·ākāra·pravṛttitas. || 7 ||

Of the sama·asatas, (tis) the abhūta·kalpa. ¦

It also, this, (tis) trividha mata°d: |

the vaipākika, that manner, the naimit·¦

·tika, the other, the prātibhāsika. || 8 ||

Prathama, (is) the mūla·vijñāna, ¦

therefore, (is) vipāka°ng the ātmaka, from which, |

the other one, the pravṛtti·vijñāna, ¦

from the dṛśya·dṛg vitti·vṛttitas. || 9 ||

From sat·asattva, from dvaya·ekatva, ¦

(tis) in both the saṅkleśa vyavadāna°ng. |

From the lakṣaṇa abhedatas, (tis) also seeking, ¦

of these svabhāva°s, the gambhīratā. || 10 ||

By sattvena, (is it) gṛhyate°d; from which, ¦

(is) the atyanta·abhāva; like that, also, |

(is) the svabhāva kalpita°d; by that, ¦

(is) the sat·asat lakṣaṇa°ng mata. || 11 ||

(Tis) vidyate°d, by bhrānti°ng bhāva; ¦

which manner, for ākhyāna°ng, (tis) not vidyate°d |

the paratantra; from which, by that, ¦

(is) the sad·asat lakṣaṇa mata. || 12 ||

By advayatva, which also, asti, ¦

of dvaya, the abhāva; just so, also, |

(is) the svabhāva, by that, niṣpanna°d. ¦

(Tis) the sat·asat lakṣaṇa°ng mata. || 13 ||

From the dvai·vidhya°d, of the kalpita°d artha, ¦

thus so, is the asattva eka·bhāvata°ng. |

(Tis) the svabhāva kalpita°d, by those bāla°s. ¦

The dvaya ekatva ātmaka, tis mata. || 14 ||

From prakhyāna°ng, with dvaya·bhāva, ¦

(is) the bhrānti°ng·mātra eka bhāvata. |

The svabhāva, the paratantra_ ākhya, ¦

the dvaya ekatva ātmaka, (tis) the mata. || 15 ||

From dvaya abhāva svabhāvatva, ¦

(tis) the advaya eka svabhāvata, |

the svabhāva, pariniṣpanna. ¦

The dvaya ekatva ātmaka, (tis) the mata. || 16 ||

The kalpita°d, the paratantra also, ¦

shall be jñeya°d, for saṅkleśa lakṣaṇa; |

the pariniṣpanna iṣṭa°ng, verily, ¦

(tis) of vyavadāna, for lakṣaṇa. || 17 ||

From asat·dvaya svabhāvatva, ¦

therefore, (tis) the abhāva svabhāvata, |

from svabhāva, from the kalpita°d, shall be jñeya°d, ¦

the niṣpanna°ng, the abhinna°d lakṣaṇa°ng. || 18 ||

From the advayatva·svabhāvatva, ¦

(is) the dvaya abhāva svabhāvata. |

From niṣpanna°ng, (is) kalpita°ed also, similarly, ¦

(it) shall be vijñeya°ng the abhinna°d lakṣaṇa°dly. || 19 ||

Which manner, for ākhyāna°ng, (tis) from asad·bhāva, ¦

that manner, (is) the asattva svabhāvata. |

From svabhāva, to paratantra_ ākhyā°d, ¦

is the niṣpanna°d, the abhinna°d lakṣaṇa°ng. || 20 ||

From the asad dvaya svabhāvatva, ¦

which manner, (tis) ākhyāna·ng asvabhāvata°ng; |

from niṣpanna°ng, paratantra, thereto, ¦

(it) shall vijñeya, the abhinna°d lakṣaṇa°ly. || 21 ||

The krama·bheda, of these svabhāva°s, ¦

from the vyavahāra·adhikāratas, |

that, from the praveśa adhikāra; also ¦

the vyutpatty·artha vidhīyate°s. || 22 ||

The kalpita°d, the vyavahāra·ātmā, ¦

the vyavahāra·ātmaka, the apara, |

the vyavahāra·samuccheda ¦

svabhāva also besides, tis iṣyate°d. || 23 ||

The dvaya abhāva ātmaka, before ¦

(being) paratantra, (tis) praviśyate°d. |

Thence, tis praviśyate°d, therein, ¦

the kalpa·mātra, for the asad dvaya. || 24 ||

From that, the dvaya·abhāva bhāva, ¦

the niṣpanna, herein, (tis) praviśyate°d. |

That manner, indeed, that one, just so, then, ¦

asti°s, not asti°s, like that, also, (tis) ucyate°d. || 25 ||

The traya, therefore, these svabhāva°s, truly, ¦

(are) advaya ālamba lakṣaṇa°ng. |

From abhāva, not that manner from bhāva, ¦

thus so, (tis) the abhāva svabhāvata°ng. || 26 ||

The māyā, for kṛta°ng, from mantra·vaśa, ¦

khyāti°s, by the hasti·ātmanā; which manner, |

for ākāra·mātra, therein, asti ¦

the hastī; not asti, indeed, in every manner. || 27 ||

The svabhāva, the kalpita, the hastin, ¦

paratantra°nt thus so, (is) the ākṛti; |

which, therein, (is) the hasti°s abhāva; that one, ¦

pariniṣpanna°ng, (tis) iṣyate°d. || 28 ||

The asat kalpa, that manner, khyāti°s, ¦

from the mūla citta, the dvaya ātmanā. |

For dvaya, atyanta, it not asti°s; ¦

therein, asti°s the ākṛti mātraka. || 29 ||

Mantravat, (is) the mūla·vijñāna. ¦

Kāṣṭhavat, (is) tathatā, the matā. |

Hasty·ākāravat, to be eṣṭavya°d, ¦

(is) the vikalpa, hastivat, for dvaya. || 30 ||

Within the artha tattva prativedha, ¦

bound together, the lakṣaṇa traya, |

the parijñā, and the prahāṇa, also ¦

the prāpti, the ceṣṭā, which manner, (tis) for krama. || 31 ||

The parijñā, the anupalambha, there, ¦

the hāni, for akhyāna, (tis) iṣyate°d. |

The upalambha animitta, verily, ¦

the prāpti, from sākṣa, the kriyā, therefore, (tis) she. || 32 ||

Of dvaya, with anupalambha, ¦

the dvaya ākāra, vigacchati°s. |

From the vigama, of that, niṣpanna°d, ¦

the dvaya·abhāva, (tis) adhigamyate°d. || 33 ||

For these hastin°s, the anupalambha, and ¦

the vigama also, thus so, of ākṛti, |

the upalambha, also of the kāṣṭha, ¦

in the māyā, (are) bound together, such manner. || 34 ||

The viruddha dhī,‸ from vāraṇatva, ¦

by buddhi, indeed!, from arthya darśana, |

from the jñāna traya anuvṛtti also, ¦

(is) the mokṣa·āpatti, from ayatna. || 35 ||

By the citta mātra upalambha, ¦

shall be jñeya°d, the artha anupalambhatā, |

shall be jñeya°d, by the artha anupalambha, ¦

perhaps syāt be, the citta anupalambhatā. || 36 ||

In dva, by anupalambha, ¦

(tis) the dharma·dhātu upalambhatā. |

By the dharma·dhātu upalambha, ¦

perhaps syāt be, the vibhutva upalambhatā. || 37 ||

From upalabdha°ng the vibhutva and ¦

the svaparārtha prasiddhi, |

prāpnoti°s, for anuttarā bodhi, ¦

the dhīmān, unto the kāya·traya ātmikām. || 38 ||

Iti, the Trisvabhāva Nirdeśa, (tis) samāpta°d, ||

kṛtir°d, of ācārya Vasubandhu pāda°s, iti ||
