for he, (is) near to the vanda, for vadatā'ng, to the vara. || 1.2 ||

Not the svata, not, indeed, the parata, ¦

not with dva, not, indeed, the ahetuta, |

utpannā'ng, at all ever, (are) vidyante'd ¦

these bhāvā's, (to be), somewhere, something. || 1.3 ||

(T'is) catvāra, these pratyaya's, the hetu, ¦

also for the ālambana anantara'ng, |

thereof, like that, to the adhipati aya'ng also, ¦

the pratyaya, not asti, a pañcama || 1.4 ||

Not assuredly, (is) the svabhāva, of these bhāvāna's, ¦

in the pratyaya ādi, vidyate'd. |

In the, being avidyamāna, svabhāva, ¦

the parabhāva, (is) not vidyate'd. || 1.5 ||

The kriyā, (hath) not pratyayavatī, ¦

nor (hath) apratyayavatī, the kriyā, |

these pratyaya's, (are) not akriyāvanta, ¦

kriyāvanta and also santi, !uta! || 1.6 ||

Utpadyate'd, by pratīti, for this, ¦

just so, (are) these, pratyaya's, assuredly |

as far as, not having utpadya'd it, (are) these, ¦

so greatly, not (are) these āpratyaya's, how pray tell || 1.7 ||

Not, in this way, of asat, not, just so, of sat, ¦

the pratyaya, of the artha, (is) yujyate'd, |

Of asat, the pratyaya, of what, ¦

of sat also, by pratyaya, for whom || 1.8 ||

Not sat, not asat, not satasat, ¦

the dharma (t'is) nirvartate'd; when, |

pray tell, the nirvartaka hetu, ¦

the sandharma (is) upadiśyate'd. |

So then, (is) in the anālambana dharma, ¦

In these anutpanna dharma, ¦

the nirodha (t'is) not upapadyate'd, |

Not (tis) (an) anantara, from this, to yukta, ¦

in niruddha, the pratyaya, also what? || 1.11 ||

Of bhāva's, of niḥsvabhāva's, ¦

not the sattā vidyate's; from which, |

satī, this, in this, bhavati's. ¦

Thus so, this here, not like that, upapadyate's. || 1.12 ||

Not also in these vyasta'd samasta's, ¦

in the pratyaya, svasti's, that phala. |

From these pratyaya's, pray tell, that also, ¦

ought bhavet; not in these pratyaya's, (then) what || 1.13 ||

That manner, sat, indeed, that, from these, ¦

from these pratyaya's, pravartate's. |

From those apratyaya's, indeed, where from, ¦

for phala, (doth) not abhipravartate. || 1.14 ||

For phala, also to pratyaya, for aya, ¦

these pratyaya, also selfless, maya's, |

the phala, from these asvamaya, what, ¦

that, (tis) for pratyaya aya, pray tell how? || 1.15 ||

From that, not for pratyaya aya, ¦

not for apratyaya aya, for phala, |

(t'is) saṃvidyate'd; from phala ābhāva, ¦

these pratyaya apratyaya's, (art) from whence? || 1.16 ||

The gata, not gamyate'd, so greatly; ¦

the agata, not, similarly, gamyate'd. |

Gatāgata vinirmukta'd, ¦

the gamyamāna'ng, (t'is) not gamyate'd || 2.1 ||

The ceṣṭā, in which, tis the gati therein,

in gamyamāna'ng also, tis she, from which,

not in gata, not in agata, (is) the ceṣṭā; ¦

in gamyamāna'ng, the gati (t'is) from that || 2.2 ||

Of gamyamāna'ng, for to gamana, ¦

pray tell, the nāma upapatsyate's? |

In gamyamāna, (t'is) dvigamana ¦

when, not like that, upapadyate's. || 2.3 ||

Of gamyamāna'ng, the gamana, ¦

of which, of that, tis prasajyate'd. |

Apart from the gati, for the gamyamāna'd, ¦

the gamyamāna'ng, indeed, tis gamyate'd. || 2.4 ||

Of gamyamāna, in gamana'ng, ¦

prasakta'ed, for gamana dvaya, |

by which, that, (t'is) for gamyamāna also, ¦

which also, here, (t'is) gamana, again. || 2.5 ||

Those dva gantṛ, prasajyete'd, ¦

in prasakta'ng gamana dvaya, |

for the gantṛ, verily, crossways, kṛtya'ng, ¦

the gamana, (t'is) not upapadyate'd. || 2.6 ||

For the gantṛ, one cetti's, askṛtya; ¦

gamana, (t'is) not upapadyate'd. |

In moving goes the gantā; therefore, ¦

from whence, like that, (shall it) bhaviṣyati? || 2.7 ||

The gantṛ not gacchate's; (then) so much ¦

the agantṛ not, just so, gacchati's. |

Other than the gantur, the agantur including, ¦

what (is) the tṛtīya, indeed, (that) gacchati's? || 2.8 ||

The gantṛ, to such an extent, (he) gacchati's, like that, ¦

pray tell, in this way, (t'is) upapatsyate'd? |

With the gamana'ng, without a gantṛ, ¦

when, (t'is) not like that, upapadyate'd? || 2.9 ||

The pakṣa, “the gantā gacchati's”, iti, ¦

of which, of that, (t'is) prasajyate'd, |

by gamana, without the gantṛ, ¦

the gantur, (is) for gamana'ng, from icchat'ng. || 2.10 ||

In gamana'ng, in dve, (are) both prasajyete'd. ¦

The gantṛ, if also, gacchati's. |

The gantṛ, like that, also, (t'is) ucyate'd, by which, ¦

the gantṛ, in the same way also, gacchati's. || 2.11 ||

Twas in gata'ng, not ārabhyate'd, to gantum. ¦

Twas the gata'd, not ārabhyate'd, in agata'ng. |

Not ārabhyate'd, in gamyamāna'ng. ¦

To gantum, ārabhyate'd, where? || 2.12 ||

First, is, from the gamana'ng ārambha, ¦

the gamyamāna'd not, nor for the gata, |

in which,^āought ārabhyeta the gamana. ¦

In the agata, the gamana'ng, (tis) from whence? || 2.13 ||

The gata for whom, the being gamyamāna'd for whom, ¦

the agata, for whom, (tis) vikalpyate'd, |

in the adṛśyamāna ārambha, ¦

of the gamana'ng, like that, every manner. || 2.14 ||

The gantṛ (doth) not tiṣṭhate; so much, ¦

the agantṛ not, like that, tiṣṭhati's, |

moreover, the gantur, the agantur also; ¦

which the tṛtīyas, then, tiṣṭhati's? || 2.15 ||

The gantṛ, so greatly much, tiṣṭhati's, just so, ¦

pray tell, like that, upapatsyate's; |

by gamana'ng, without the gantṛ, ¦

when, not in this way, upapadyate's. || 2.16 ||

Not tiṣṭhate's, from (being) gamyamāna'd, ¦

not from the gata, not from the agata; therefore, |

the gamana'ng, the saṃpravṛtti, and ¦

the nivṛtti also, (are) from the gati, equally. || 2.17 ||

Which, just so, for the gamana'ng, the gantṛ, ¦

he, in this way, like that, (is) not yujyate'd. |

Moreover, just so, again the gantṛ, ¦

from the gati, like that, (is) not yujyate'd. || 2.18 ||

Which, just so, (is) for the gamana, the gantṛ, ¦

he, like that, indeed, ought bhavet; if |

(is an) ekībhāva, (those two are) prasajyeta'd, ¦

from the kartṛ, from the karman, (t'is) like that, also. || 2.19 ||

Moreover, like that, again, (is) the gantṛ, ¦

from the gati, if vikalpyate'd. |

The gamana, perhaps is, without a gantur. ¦

The gantṛ, perhaps ought be, from the gamana, apart. || 2.20 ||

By the ekībhāva, or the siddhi, ¦

(tis) differently, by bhāva, or in which those two, |

(art) not vidyate'd; in those two, the siddhi, ¦

pray tell how !!!, indeed, (tis) vidyate'd. || 2.21 ||

By the gatyā, which of those two, (t'is) ucyate'd, (is) the gantā, ¦

for the gatiṃ, for her, it not gacchati's. |

From which, not the gati pūrvas^o'asti, ¦

Someone, whomever, the dhi, gacchati's. || 2.22 ||

In gati, which of those two, (t'is) ucyate'd, (is) the gantā, ¦

from that, to anyā, it not gacchati's. |

The two gati's, in dva, not (they) upapadyete; ¦

from which, in eka, (it) pragacchati's. || 2.23 ||

The sadbhūta, the gamana, the gantā, ¦

to a triprakāra, not gacchati's. |

Not the asadbhūta, indeed, for gamana, ¦

to a triprakāra, (doth) he gacchati. || 2.24 ||

For gamana'ng, the sadasad bhūta, ¦

to a triprakāra, not gacchati's. |

From that, the gati and the gantṛ also, ¦

to be gantavya'd also, (t'is) not vidyate'd. || 2.25 ||

The darśana, the śravaṇa, the ghrāṇa, ¦

the rasana, the sparśana, the manas, |

these indriya's, the ṣaṭ of these, ¦

for these to be draṣṭavya'd^āādi, (is) the gocara. || 3.1 ||

From svamāt, the māna, the darśana, indeed, ¦

that, for that, just so, (doth) not paśyati. |

Not paśyati, when, for ātman, ¦

Pray tell, shall drakṣyati, that, directed outwards. || 3.2 ||

Not paryāptas, the agni dṛṣṭānto, ¦

of darśanasya, for prasiddhaye, |

with the sadarśanaḥ, sa pratyukto, ¦

by gamyamāna gata^āagataiḥ. || 3.3 ||

Not to apaśyamāna, bhavati, ¦

when, for whom ever, (t'is) darśana'ng. |

The darśana paśyati's, like that; thus, ¦

pray tell, this, indeed, (t'is) yujyate'd. || 3.4 ||

Paśyati's the darśana not, in this way; ¦

not certainly, paśyati's the adarśana. |

Vyākhyāta'd, by darśana, like that, ¦

(a) draṣṭṛ, also, thereto, must be upagam'd. || 3.5 ||

Remove, the draṣṭṛ, not astya, ¦

set aside, also, the darśana. |

The shall be draṣṭavya'd, the darśana'ng, also in this way, ¦

in the draṣṭṛ, asati's, those two, from where? || 3.6 ||

Having pratītya'd, both the mātā (and) pitar, ¦

which manner, the ukta'ng, “the putra saṃbhava”, |

in the cakṣū rūpa, having pratītya'd, just so, ¦

(t'is) the mukta, the vijñāna saṃbhava. || 3.7 ||

From draṣṭavya (and) darśana^āābhāva, ¦

to the vijñāna^āādicatuṣ^ṭaya, |

not asti, like that, for the upādāna^āādīni's. ¦

They shall bhaviṣyanti, again, pray tell? || 3.8 ||

For vyākhyāta, the śravaṇa, the ghrāṇa, ¦

the rasana, the sparśana, the manas, |

by darśana, like that, (one) ought jānīyāt, ¦

śrotṛ śrotavya, when^āādi, also. || 3.9 ||

The rūpa kāraṇa nirmukta, ¦

not the rūpa, (t'is) upalabhyate'd. |

By rūpa, therefore, (t'is) not nirmukta'ed, ¦

(t'is) dṛśyate'd the rūpa kāraṇa. || 4.1 ||

In rūpa kāraṇa nirmukta, ¦

in rūpa, the rūpa (t'is) prasajyate'd. |

For an āhetuka, not also, asti's the artha ¦

some body, the āhetuka, where ever. || 4.2 ||

By rūpa, in sooth, to vinirmukta, ¦

if, perhaps, the rūpa kāraṇa, |

for akāryaka, for kāraṇa, perhaps, ¦

not asti the akāryaṃ and kāraṇa. || 4.3 ||

In rūpa, of satya, just so, of rūpa, ¦

the kāraṇa not upapadyate's. |

In rūpa, of asatya, like that, of rūpa, ¦

the kāraṇa not upapadyate's. || 4.4 ||

Niṣkāraṇa, the punā rūpa, ¦

not in this way, not like that, (t'is) upapadyate'd. |

From that, from rūpa gata, for whatever ¦

(is) not from vikalpa, ought be made to vikalpayet. || 4.5 ||

Not, of kāraṇa, the sadṛśa, ¦

for to be kārya'd, thus, upapadyate's. |

Not, of kāraṇa, the asadṛśa, ¦

for to be kārya'd, just so, upapadyate's. || 4.6 ||

Of these vedanā citta sañjñā's, ¦

of these saṃskāra's, also, all of them, |

of these sarva, just so, of these bhāva's, ¦

with rūpa, like that, (t'is) the sama krama. || 4.7 ||

In vigraha, which for parīhāra, ¦

kṛta'd, by śūnyatā, one might vadet. |

Sarva, of that, aparihṛta, ¦

sama, by sādhya'ng, jāyate's. || 4.8 ||

In vyākhyāna, he whom, the upālambha, ¦

in kṛta'ng, with śūnyatā, ought vadet. |

For sarva, in that, (t'is) for upālabdha'ng, ¦

sama, by sādhya, (it) jāyate's. || 4.9 ||

Not the ākāśa (is) vidyate'd, for whatever ¦

(was) previously, from the ākāśa lakṣaṇa. |

The alakṣaṇa ought be prasajyeta'd, ¦

perhaps, being prior, if from the lakṣaṇa. || 5.1 ||

An alakṣaṇa, (t'is) not something also, ¦

the bhāvaḥ (t'is) saṃvidyate'd, any where, |

in asatya lakṣaṇa bhāva, ¦

for kramatā, where, (is) the lakṣaṇa. || 5.2 ||

Not in alakṣaṇa, of lakṣaṇa, ¦

(is) the pravṛtti, not in salakṣaṇa, |

by both salakṣaṇa^āalakṣaṇa, ¦

not, indeed, otherwise, (it) pravartate's. || 5.3 ||

In the lakṣaṇa asaṃpravṛtti also, ¦

not, the lakṣya upapadyate's, |

of the lakṣya, in anupapatti, also, ¦

of the lakṣaṇa, thereto, (t'is) the asaṃbhava. || 5.4 ||

From that, (t'is) not vidyate'd the lakṣya, ¦

The lakṣaṇa, not in this way, (is) vidyate'd, |

The lakṣya lakṣaṇa nirmukta, ¦

not like that, the bhāva, thereto, (is) vidyate'd. || 5.5 ||

In being avidya, in bhāva also, ¦

of which, the abhāva shall bhaviṣyati, |

the bhāva^āabhāva vidharman also, ¦

for bhāva^āabhāva, avaiti, (is) what? || 5.6 ||

From that, not the bhāva, not the abhāva, ¦

not a lakṣya, not, indeed, a lakṣaṇa, |

ākāśam, ākāśa^s, samā ¦

these dhātu's pañca, in which, in para'st. || 5.7 ||

The astitva, upon which, in sooth, they paśyanti, ¦

not the astitva, also, these alpa buddhi's, |

for bhāvānā, they, not paśyanti, ¦

shall be draṣṭavya'd, for upaśama, for śiva. || 5.8 ||

From rāga, if ought bhavet, before ¦

the rakta, the rāga, independently, (t'is) kṛta'd. |

For her, pratītya'ly, ought bhavet the rāga, ¦

in the rakta, the rāga ought bhavet, in sat. || 6.1 ||

In a rakta, asati's, again, the rāga, ¦

from whence, certainly, shall't bhaviṣyati. |

Sati, or asati, or else, (t'is) in rāga. ¦

In the rakta, therefore, this, (t'is) the same krama. || 6.2 ||

Together, just so, again, (is) the udbhūti ¦

not yuktā'd, in both rāga (and) rakta, |

ought those two bhavetām, in both rāga rakta, indeed, ¦

they are nirapekṣa, parasparam. || 6.3 ||

Not in ekatva, together, the bhāva asti ¦

not by that, just so, for that together. |

In pṛthaktva, together bhāva, moreover, ¦

from whence, in this way, shall't bhaviṣyati. || 6.4 ||

In eka'ness, together, the bhāva, and, ¦

perhaps, together this, without, also, that one. |

In pṛthak'ness, together, the bhāva, and ¦

perhaps, together for aya'ing, without, also, that one. || 6.5 ||

In separateness, together, (is) the existence, also. ¦

If, (t'is) for whom, (is) of these two: the passion (and) the empassioned nature. |

The siddha yogin, (is) separately, differently, the existence. ¦

Together (is) the existence, from which, (t'is) of those two. || 6.6 ||

The siddha, (is) separately, differently, the bhāva, ¦

if, also, of these two: rāga (and) rakta, |

together to bhāva, for whom (t'is) the artha, indeed, ¦

thou (art) parikalpayase'd, of those two. || 6.7 ||

Separately, not sidhyati's,^īlike that, thus. ¦

Together, for bhāva, (thou doth) vikāṅkṣasi. |

Together, (is) for bhāva prasiddhy artha. ¦

For pṛthak'ness, o`bhūya, (thou doth) icchasi. || 6.8 ||

Separately, from bhāva aprasiddhi, also ¦

together, the bhāvo not sidhyati's. |

In what sort, separately, (t'is) in bhāva, ¦

together for bhāva, o`sati, thou doth icchasi. || 6.9 ||

Thus, by the rakta, of rāgasya, ¦

the siddhir, (t'is) not together, not untogether. |

Having rāga, (are) all of these dharma's. ¦

The siddhir, (t'is) not together, not untogether. || 6.10 ||

If the saṃskṛta utpāda, ¦

therein, (t'is) the yuktā, for these trilakṣaṇa. |

But, the asaṃskṛta utpāda, ¦

pray tell, (t'is) for saṃskṛta lakṣaṇa. || 7.1 ||

These utpāda^āādyās, the traya, vyastā^s, ¦

(do) not prepare, in the lakṣaṇa karma. |

Of saṃskṛta, these samasta's, they ought syur. ¦

In ekatra, pray tell how, (t'is) ekadā. || 7.2 ||

Of these, of utpāda sthiti bhaṅgā, ¦

besides, the saṃskṛta lakṣaṇa |

asti, and the anavastha, thus, ¦

not asti, if they (are) not saṃskṛta'ed. || 7.3 ||

The utpāda, utpāda, utpāda, ¦

(t'is) of the mūla^outpāda, only. |

For the utpāda^outpāda, (t'is) the utpāda. ¦

The maula, brought to janayate, again. || 7.4 ||

The utpāda utpāda utpāda, ¦

of the mūla utpāda, (art) they. If, |

with maula, (is) the ajanita, to him, (art) they, ¦

he, pray tell how, shall be janayiṣyati'd. || 7.5 ||

He (ajanita), they (utpādas), by maula, the janita, ¦

for maula, (t'is) janayate'd. If |

the maula, he (janita) is by that, the ajanita, ¦

to that (maula), (is) utpādayate'd, pray tell how. || 7.6 ||

Aya, having utpadya'd, the mānas, those two, ¦

the ajāta must śaknu the aya. || 7.7 ||

The pradīpa, for to two svaparātmān's, ¦

shall cause to saṃprakāśayitā, (t'is) which manner, |

the utpāda, these svaparātmān's, ¦

both, ought be caused to utpādayet, (t'is) that manner. || 7.8 ||

In pradīpa, not the andha kāra, asti, ¦

in which, also, (is) that one pratiṣṭhita. |

For whom, prakāśayati's the dīpa, ¦

the prakāśa, assuredly, (t'is) the tama'st vadha. || 7.9 ||

Pray tell, having utpadya'd, by a māna, ¦

by a pradīpa, (is) the tamas hata'ng, |

not having utpadya'd the māna, verily, (is) the tamas, ¦

the pradīpa prāpnute's, which time (so). || 7.10 ||

Having aprāpya'd, in this way, by pradīpa, ¦

if otherwise, (is) to nihata, the tamas, |

here now, stha'ng, for every loka stha'ng, ¦

it, the tamas, shalt nihaniṣyati. || 7.11 ||

The pradīpa, for these two svaparātman, ¦

saṃprakāśayate's; if, |

the tamas, thereto, for these two svaparātman, ¦

shalt be made to chādayiṣyati, (t'is) for asaṃśaya. || 7.12 ||

The anutpanna for aya, the utpāda ¦

for svātman, ought be caused to janayet, pray tell. |

Moreover, the utpanna makes itself janayate. ¦

In jāta, for whom, (t'is) janyate'd, again. || 7.13 ||

Not for utpadya'ing, not for utpanna, ¦

not for anutpanna, pray tell, also not, |

(t'is) utpadyate'd, that manner, to khyāta, ¦

gamyamāna'ed, by these gatāgata's. || 7.14 ||

Utpadyamāna'ng, utpatta'n, ¦

alas!, (doth) not kramate. Which time, |

pray tell, the utpadyamāna'ng, indeed, ¦

having pratītya'd, (is) for utpatti, (t'is so) ucyate'd || 7.15 ||

Having pratītya'd which, that which bhavati's, ¦

that, it, theśānta svabhāvata, |

from that, for utpadyamāna'ng, also, ¦

for śāntam, the utpattir, just so also || 7.16 ||

If, whom ever, the anutpanna ¦

bhāva saṃvidyate's; in any way, |

ought utpadyeta. He, who, in that, ¦

the bhāva utpadyate's, (it) asati's. || 7.17 ||

For utpadyamānam'ng, the utpāda, ¦

if also, made to utpādayati, to aya, |

(it) ought utpādayet, for him, for the utpāda. ¦

The utpāda, (is) who again? || 7.18 ||

Moreover, (it) utpādati's, for him, if, ¦

(he has) the utpāda, the anavasthiti. |

How else, the anutpāda utpanna, ¦

completely, utpadyate's, (t'is) that manner. || 7.19 ||

Equally, also, as much, the utpatti, ¦

unequally, (t'is) also not, yujyate'd, |

not equally, and unequally also, like that, ¦

before, just so, (to be) upapādita'd. || 7.20 ||

Of nirudhyamāna'ng, the utpatti, ¦

not of bhāva, upapadyate's. |

Which, also, the anirudhyamāna, indeed, ¦

its bhāva, not upapadyate's. || 7.21 ||

Not, the sthita bhāvas, tiṣṭhati's. ¦

The asthita bhāva, not, tiṣṭhati's. |

Not, tiṣṭhati's, the tiṣṭhamāna'ng, ¦

Who, the anutpanna, also, tiṣṭhati's? || 7.22 ||

The sthiti, of nirudhya māna, ¦

not of bhāva, upapadyate's; |

which, also, the anirudhyamāna, of course, ¦

with the bhāva, not upapadyate's. || 7.23 ||

In these jarāmaraṇa dharma's, ¦

in all these bhāva's, always, |

they tiṣṭhanti, in what?, the bhāvin, ¦

wherein, the jarāmaraṇa, (t'is) without. || 7.24 ||

By sthiti, from nyaya asthiti, for sthāna, ¦

by her, just so, (t'is) also not, yujyate'd |

Of the utpāda, such manner, the utpāda, ¦

(t'is) not the ātman, not the parātman || 7.25 ||

Nirudhyate'd not the aniruddha ¦

Not the niruddha nirudhyate'd |

That manner, indeed, nirudhyamāna'ng ¦

for whom, ajāta, (is) nirudhyate'd || 7.26 ||

Of sthita, as much, (of) bhāva, ¦

the nirodha not (t'is) upapadyate'd. |

Not of asthita, besides, (of) bhāva, ¦

the nirodha (t'is) upapadyate'd || 7.27 ||

With her,^ailike that, by avasthā, (is) the avasthā, ¦

not indeed, (is) she, in this way, nirudhyate'd. |

Moreover, (is) the yā, by avasthā, the avasthā, ¦

not also, besides, like that, nirudhyate'd. || 7.28 ||

When, thus, of all these dharma's, ¦

the utpāda, not upapadyate's. |

Then, thus so, of all these dharma's, ¦

the nirodha, not upapadyate's. || 7.29 ||

Of sat, also as much, of bhāvasya, ¦

the nirodha (doth) not upapadyate. |

In ekatva, not indeed, the bhāva also, ¦

not abhāva also, (t'would) upapadyate. || 7.30 ||

From asat, indeed, not of bhāvasya, ¦

the nirodha upapadyate's. |

Not of a dvitīya, from the śiras, ¦

the chedana (is) vidyate'd, (t'is) which manner. || 7.31 ||

From those darśana śravaṇa^āādi, ¦

he whom, (t'was) before, the vyavasthita'ng bhāva, ¦

if also, (t'is) that one, the vyavasthita, |

all those, thereto, they shallt bhaviṣyanti, ¦

By another, of another, (is) the saṃsarga, ¦

“Samyag, the dṛṣṭiḥ, samyag, the dṛṣṭir”, iti, o' bhadanta, (tis) ucyate'd |

How kiyatā, the samyag dṛṣṭir, bhavati |

Kiyatā, the tathāgataḥ, for samyag dṛṣtiṃ, made prajñapayamānaḥ'ing, (is) caused to prajñapayati |

Thus, ukta'd the bhagavān, āyuṣmantaṃ, to sandhā kātyāyanam, (tis) this, did avocat |

Dva̱yaṃ, ni̱śrita̍s, this, o' kātyā̍yana, the loka̍s, which, bhūya̱s āstitāñ, and the niśrito, not^āāstitāñ, also. |

The upadhi upādāna'ng vinibaddha, this, o' kātyāyana, (is) the loka, which, (tis) for utāstitā, and the niśrita, for non āstitā also |

These, also, the upadhi upādāna's, of the cetas, (are) for the adhiṣṭhāna'ng abhiniveśa anuśayān, not upaiti, not in the upādatte; (doth) not adhitiṣṭhati, not abhiniviśati, the ātmā of 'mine', moreover. |

Duḥkham, this, utpadyamāna'ng, utpadyate's |

Duḥkhaṃ, nirudhyamāna'ng, nirudhyate's |

Herein, also, (one) neither kāṅkṣati's, nor vicikitsati's |

Aparapratyaya jñāna, in this way, of that, bhavati's. |

This much, O' kātyāyana, the samyag dṛṣṭi, bhavati's |

So much, the Tathāgata, (is) for (having) a samyag dṛṣṭi, the prajñapaymāna'd, prajñapayati's. |

That, what reason, (is) of the hetu ? |

For the loka samudayaṃ, o' kātyāyana, which manner, for bhūtaṃ, (tis) the samyak prajñayā paśyata'ng, which, in the loka, (tis) non astitā, she, not bhavati's. |

For the loka nirodhaṃ, which manner, for bhūta, (tis) the samyak prajñayā paśyata'ng, which, in the loke, (tis) astitā, she not bhavati's. |

Thus so, for both the ita, ubha, the anta, having anupagamya'd, with the madhyama pratipada, the tathāgata, for dharma, deśayati's.

That which, even, in this, (tis) for sati both, this bhavati's; of that, from the utpāda, this (tis) utpadyate'd. |

That which, even, the avidyā, those pratyaya's, those saṃskāra's, just so, (being) pūrvavat, as much as, the samudaya, the nirodha, also bhavati |

In this, verily, in the dharma paryāya, bhāṣya'ng, from the āyuṣmat, of sandhā kātyāyana, for the anupādāya, for those āsrava's, for the citta vimukta |

If, the astitvaṃ, (tis) with prakṛtī, perhaps, ¦

(it) not ought bhavet, of this, (if) not the astitā, |

From prakṛti, (tis) another manner, the bhāva, ¦

Not (are) badhyante'd, not mucyante'd, ¦

these udaya vyaya dharmin's |

These saṃskāra's, as before, the sattva ¦

(is) badhyate'd, not! not!, mucyate'd || 16.5 ||

For bandhana, and, for upādāna, ¦

he, the upādāna'er, (is) not badhyate'd |

The tathāgata, (has) skandhavan not. ¦

What, herein, (tis) the tathāgata? || 22.1 ||

The buddha, from skandha, having upādāya'd, ¦

if, not asti svabhāvata'ng; |

svabhāvata'ng, also, what not asti. ¦

From where, (is) he, the parabhāvataḥ. || 22.2 ||

Having pratītya'd, to parabhāvaṃ, which ¦

Which also, the anātmā, he also, pray tell, ¦

From the skandha, if, having anupādāya'd, ¦

t'would bhavet, (is) someone, (a) tathāgataḥ? |

could cause to be prajñapyeta'd, the tathāgata. || 22.8 ||

'That', besides, this, upādānaṃ, ¦

that, from svabhāvāt, (tis) not vidyate'd. |

Svabhāvata'd also, 'that', not asti, ¦

from where, that, parabhāvata'ng? || 22.9 ||

Thus, for śūnya upādāna'ng, ¦

the upādātṛ, also, entirely, |

(is) caused to be prajñapyate'd, also, by śūnya. ¦

Pray tell how, (is) the śūnya tathāgata || 22.10 ||

Śūnyam, thus, not, shall be vaktavya'd, ¦

for aśūnyam, just so, otherwise, t'would bhavet. |

For ubhaya, for not ubhaya also, like that, ¦

the prajñapti artha, verily, (tis) kathyate'd. || 22.11 ||

The śāśvata aśāśvata ādi₁, herein, ¦

from where, in śānta, (is this) catuṣṭaya. |

The anta ananta adi, also, besides, herein, ¦

from where, in śānta, (is this) catuṣṭaya || 22.12 ||

The ghana grāha'er, gṛhīta'd, indeed, ¦

by which, asti, like that, the tathāgata. |

Not asti, like that, otherwise, (tis) caused to kalpayat, he. ¦

Of nirvṛta'ng, (he) ought vikalpayet. || 22.13 ||

Svabhāvata'ng, also, in śūnya, in this, ¦

the cintā, not in this way, upapadyate's. |

The para, from nirodha, bhavati? ¦

The buddha, (does) not bhavati, like that, either. || 22.14 ||

They prapañcayanti, in which, (tis) for buddha, ¦

the prapañca atīta, avyaya. |

They, these prapañca hata'd, in sarva, ¦

not they paśyanti, to the tathāgata. || 22.15 ||

The tathāgata, who, (is) svabhāva, ¦

that, (tis) for svabhāva, this jagat. |

The tathāgata, (is) niḥsvabhāva, ¦

to niḥsvabhāvam, (is) this jagat. || 22.16 ||

The saṅkalpa prabhava, (is) rāga, ¦

dveṣa, moha also, (tis) kathyate'd. |

For these śubha aśubha viparyāsa, ¦

they sambhavanti, having pratītya'd, assuredly. || 23.1 ||

For these śubha^āaśubha viparyāsa, ¦

they sambhavanti, having pratītya'd; wherein, |

they, from svabhāva, (are) not vidyante'd. ¦

From that, these kleśās, (are) not from suchness. || 23.2 ||

From the ātman, in astitva (or) not astitva, ¦

not, by any means, also, they both sidhyatas. |

For him, without, in astitva (or) not astitva, ¦

of these kleśa's, they both sidhyatas, pray tell how? || 23.3 ||

Of whomever, assuredly, they bhavanti, these, ¦

these kleśa's; he, also (doth) not, sidhyati. |

Something, ah!, (tis) without someone. ¦

These śanti kleśa's, (are) not of whomever? || 23.4 ||

Having the svakāya dṛṣṭi, these kleśa's, ¦

in the kliṣṭa, they santi not, pañcadhā. |

Having the svakāya dṛṣṭi, for the kliṣṭa, ¦

in these kleśa's, thereto, (tis) not pañcadhā. || 23.5 ||

Svabhāvata'ng, (art) not vidyante'd, ¦

these śubha aśubha viparyaya's. |

Having pratītya'd, for which of many, those kleśa's, ¦

These (the) rūpa śabda rasa sparśā ¦

gandhā dharma's, (as) also the ṣaḍ vidham, |

By which, gṛhṇāti's, he whom, (is) the grāha; ¦

For to these upaśānta's sarva, ¦

If, these bhūta's, (are) by svabhāva, ¦

these kleśa's, (are) by whom, indeed, of what ever. |

Pray tell, in name only, they ought be prahīyeran'd. ¦

Who, for unto svabhāva, shallt prahāsyati? || 23.24 ||

If, these abhūta's, (are) with svabhāva, ¦

these kleśa's, (are) by whom, indeed, of what ever. |

Pray tell, in name only, they ought be prahīyeran'd. ¦

Who, for unto asadbhāva, shallt prahāsyati? || 23.25 ||

If, the śūnya, (tis) this completely, ¦

the udaya not asti, nor the vyaya. |

Of the catur, of these ārya satya, ¦

the abhāva, of thee, (tis) prasajyate'd. || 24.1 ||

The parijñā, and the prahāṇa, also ¦

the bhāvanā, the sākṣi karma, also, |

four times, in name, of these ārya satya's, ¦

from abhāvān, (are) not upapadyate'd || 24.2 ||

Therefore, from abhāva, (are) they not vidyante'd, ¦

these catvār, these ārya phala, also, |

in phala abhāva the phala sthā'ng, for us, ¦

not they santi, these pratipannaka's. || 24.3 ||

The saṅgha, not asti; not, when santi ¦

they, in aṣṭi, those puruṣa pudgala's. |

From the abhāva, of these cārya'ng satya's, ¦

the saddharma, thereto, not (tis) vidyate'd. || 24.4 ||

In the dharma, and, (it) asati's, in the saṅgha, also; ¦

pray tell why, the buddha shall bhaviṣyati? |

Thus, (tis) unto these tri, thereto, these ratna's, ¦

(this) bruvāṇa'ng, (dost thou) pratibādhase. || 24.5 ||

For śūnyatā, for the phala sadbhāva, ¦

for adharma, for dharma, just so also, |

for all these saṃvyavahāra's, and ¦

for those laukika's, (dost thou) pratibādhase. || 24.6 ||

Herein, we brūmas, on śūnyatā, ¦

not, thou vetsi, to the prayojana. |

thereupon, thus, (art thou) vihanyase'd. || 24.7 ||

In dva satya, having samupāśritya'd, ¦

of these buddha's, (is) the dharma deśanā, |

the loka saṃvṛti satyaṃ, and ¦

They who, of these two, not vijānanti, ¦

(are) for vibhāga, of two satya's, in dva. |

(are) to gambhīra, in buddha śāsana. || 24.9 ||

the parama artha, (tis) not diśyate'd. |

To the parama artha, having anāgamya'd, ¦

Vināśayati, (is) the durdṛṣṭā'd ¦

The sarpa, which manner, (tis) durgṛhīta'd; ¦

From svabhāva, if, of these bhāva's, ¦

for sadbhāva, thou anupaśyasi's. |

For these ahetu pratyaya, for these bhāva's, ¦

thou, thus sati'ng, doth paśyasi. || 24.16 ||

For the to be kārya'd, and for the kāraṇa also, just so, ¦

for the kartṛ, for karaṇa'ng, for the kriyā, |

for the utpāda, and for the nirodha also, ¦

for the phala also, (thou dost) pratibādhase. || 24.17 ||

He whom, (is) having pratītya samutpāda, ¦

(is) for śūnyatā, for her, we do pracakṣmahe. |

She, the prajñapti, having upādāya'd, ¦

the pratipat, (tis) she, just so, madhyamā. || 24.18 ||

The having apratītya samutpanna'd ¦

dharma, whichever, (tis) not vidyate'd. |

From which, from that, the aśūnya, indeed, ¦

dharma, whichever, (tis) not vidyate'd. || 24.19 ||

If, (tis) aśūnya, this, sarva, ¦

the udaya not asti, nor the vyaya. |

Of these catur, of these ārya satya, ¦

For the apratītya samutpanna'd, ¦

from where, the duḥkha shallt bhaviṣyati? |

In avidyā niruddha'd, ¦

of these saṃskāra's, (tis) the asambhava. |

Of avidyā, the nirodha, indeed, ¦

with the jñāna, of that, certainly, (tis) from bhāvana. || 26.11 ||

Of that, of that, by nirodha, ¦

(tis) that, (tis) that, not abhipravartate's. |

The duḥkha'ful skandha, only, (tis) this, ¦

thus, at the same time, (tis) nirudhyate'd. || 26.12 ||

In abhūmat, for ita'ng to adhvāna, ¦

not in abhūmit also, these dṛṣṭi's!. |

They which, they, these śāśvata loka ādi's, ¦

for unto pūrva (and) anta, (are these) the samupāśrita's. || 27.1 ||

These dṛṣṭi's, not, shall I bhaviṣyāmi, ¦

for which, an other one, (tis) in anāgata 'adhvan. |

I shall bhaviṣyāmi, like that, also, the anta ādyā. ¦

For aparānta, (are) these samāśrita's. || 27.2 ||

In abhūmat, ita'ng, to adhvāna, ¦

like that, 'this', (tis) not upapadyate'd. |

He whom, indeed, in those janman pūrva, ¦

he, in this way, (t'would) not bhavati, this one. || 27.3 ||

He, like that, the ātman, just so, indeed, ought bhavet; ¦

for upādāna'ng (tis) viśiṣyate'd. |

The upādāna vinirmukta'd ¦

ātman, for those two, (is) who again? || 27.4 ||

The upādāna vinirmukt'd, ¦

not asti the ātman, like that, in kṛta'ng, the sati. |

Perhaps, (tis) the upādāna, in this way, the ātman? ¦

Not asti, also, the ātman, thus so, of thee, again. || 27.5 ||

Not also, the upādāna, in this way, (tis) the ātman, ¦

vyeti (is) that, samudeti also. |

Pray tell, indeed, by what's called, 'upādāna', ¦

the upādātṛ shall bhaviṣyati? || 27.6 ||

The other one, again, (tis) from upādāna. ¦

The ātmān, not, in this way, (tis) upapadyate'd. |

Gṛhyate'd, indeed, (is) the anupādāna; ¦

if, the other, not also, (tis) gṛhyate'd. || 27.7 ||

Thus, not moreover, from the upādāna, ¦

not also, for the upādāna, in this way, (is) he. |

The ātman, not, asti, the anupādāna. ¦

Not, certainly not, asti, 'this here', niścayaḥ. || 27.8 ||

Not in abhūmat, ita'n, to adhvāna; ¦

like that, 'this', not (tis) upapadyate'd. |

He whom, for (was), in those janman's pūrva, ¦

from that, (an) other one, not, bhavati's, for aya. || 27.9 ||

If, indeed, for aya'ng, ought bhavet the other. ¦

Of the pratyākhyā, thereto, to him, (it) ought bhavet. |

That manner, just so, also, he ought saṃtiṣṭhet. ¦

Therein, should jāyeta, indeed, the amṛta. || 27.10 ||

The uccheda, of these karman, the nāśa, ¦

that manner, the other (tis) kṛta'd, of these karman. |

By the anya, the paribhoga perhaps syāt. ¦

Thus, the ādi (tis) prasajyate'd. || 27.11 ||

Not, therefore, having abhūtvā'd, the samudbhūta'd, ¦

the doṣa, assuredly, herein, (are) prasajyate'd. |

the kṛtaka'd, even, t'would bhavet the ātman, ¦

the sambhūta, and, also, the ahetuka'd. || 27.12 ||

Thus, the dṛṣṭi, in the atīta, which (is): ¦

“not the abhū (am) I, the abhū (am) I, |

for ubhaya, not for ubhaya also”, to quote, ¦

not 'this', samupapadyate's. || 27.13 ||

In the adhvani anāgata, for what, still, ¦

(would) bhaviṣyāmi, like that, for darśana? |

Not (would) bhaviṣyāmi, also, thus so, here, ¦

by the atīta, by adhvan, similarly. || 27.14 ||

He, the deva, he, the manuṣya, also, ¦

thus, bhavati's, for śāśvata. |

Anutpanna'd, also, the deva, perhaps, ¦

jāyate's, not, certainly, for śāśvata. || 27.15 ||

From the deva, the other one, the manuṣya, also, ¦

for aśāśvata, from this, ought bhavet. |

by these two, for both these, (tis) contrarily kṛta'd. || 27.20 ||

Antavat, if, the loka, perhaps syāt; ¦

the paraloka, pray tell how, ought bhavet? |

Moreover, thereto, (is) the anantavat loka; ¦

Of these skandha's, 'this', (tis) the santāna, ¦

from which, of these dīpa arcis, just so, |

(it) pravartate's, from that, not from the anta. ¦

Having antavat, thou (art), also yujyate'd. || 27.22 ||

In pūrve, if also, they ought be bhajyeran'd ¦

they ought utpadyeran, not also, besides, those |
